Hajia Fawzia Karim, the woman at the centre of the video that captures Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo receiving an amount of money concealed in a brown envelope has noted that the said footage was recorded in 2016 when the latter was the presidential candidate for then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)..
Contrary to suggestions by the Salis Newspaper and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that it is a current video.
The video of the incident started trending on December 1, 2020 on social media that sees the first gentleman of the land Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo taking money from Dr. Agyei Bawuah, Ghana’s ambassador to the United States to beg on behalf of Alhaji Abass Awolu with a woman named, Hajia Fawzia Karim and her said brother, click here to watch the full video.
After the video surfaced online, the NPP released an unedited version of the video that really proved it was just a donation and not a bribe as it was speculated by the NDC.
From the original video released by the NPP, it was recorded when Nana Addo was then vying to be elected as President and the money received was to support his campaign and not a bribe as the NDC want people to believe, click here to watch the original video released by the NPP.
Just like Kweku Baako’s claims, Hajia Fawzia suspects the video was recorded by Salis Yakubu Atsuluho of the Salis Newspaper.
She established that Salis was one of the two persons who accompanied her to Akufo-Addo’s private residence.
She, however, expressed her distress in the interview at the turn of events, condemning the attempt to twist a goodwill gesture for selfish political gains.
