Another Interesting Update On Treason Case Against Oliver Barker-Vormawor-CHECK DETAILS.
The current interesting update, on the Treason Case Against Oliver Barker-Vormawor (#FixTheCountry Lead Convener), has revealed that, Madam Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), has on behalf of the Attorney-General of Ghana, filed a summary of evidence the state intends to rely on, to prove its treason felony case against him (Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor).
Mr. Oliver Barker Vormawor, the leading conveners of the #FixTheCountry movement, was arrested by Police, for an alleged ‘coup’ post on his social media page, and charged with treason felony.
Barker Vormawor’s Facebook post; which led to his arrest says; “If this E-Levy passes after this cake bullshit, I will do the coup myself. Useless Army”!
The second social media post from him also reads, “Okay, let’s try again. If this E-Levy still passes after this cake bullshit, then may God….Help us to resist oppressor’s rule, With all our will and might for evermore. (2x). Useless Army. Anaa, the value is the same”?
After his arrest, a statement release from the Ghana police stated that, “Mr. Vormawor’s post contained a clear statement of intent; with a possible will to execute a coup in his declaration of intent, to subvert the constitution of the Republic of Ghana”.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor, was later granted GH¢2M bail by the Tema High Court.
In the new update, “the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), has filed a summary of evidence the that state intends to rely on, to prove its treason felony case against #FixTheCountry Convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor”.
Information published on Myjoyonline revealed that, “The District Court will be invited to determine whether on the basis of the evidence, it is worth directing, that the accused stands trial for the alleged offence at the High Court”.
The information revealed that, “The documents filed by the DPP reveals that, three persons will be called to testify against Mr. Barker-Vormawor should the matter be transmitted to the High Court”.
According to Section 182 of Ghana’s Criminal and other Offences Act, 1960, Act 29; “A person is guilty of treason-felony, and shall be punishable as for first degree felony who; “(a) prepares or endeavours to procure by unlawful means any alteration of the law, or the policies of the Government; or (b) prepares or endeavours to carry out by unlawful means any enterprise which usurps the executive power of the State in any matter of both public and general nature”.
