Exactly a week from today 23rd September 2021 the University of Education Winneba bids farewell to one very hardworking, focused, strong, firm, most embattled, most controversial, most kind, most sacrificial man of God, Rev Fr Prof Anthony Afful-Broni.
He has fought a good fight, he has run the race, he has finished his course so we know that his crowns laid before him would indeed be many. May God whom he has served so fervently and loved so dearly favor all the days of his life to keep him strong and healthy and to use him beyond borders he can imagine.
Being this much of a high achiever, working in a stormy UEW, he no doubt had his down moments, friends and foes, strengths, weaknesses and faults flowing to the fore but all in all he was truly human with divine enablement.
Onipa bɛ yɛ bi, woanbɛ yɛ ni nyinara. May our community sing an encouragement where possible and truly forgive where needed.
One week on, we celebrate our Vice Chancellor, we celebrate his contribution to our great UEW. We celebrate his flourishing achievements.
One week into winding down from such high capacity performance with high emotions, high environmental impedance, high social associations and dissociations, high mental demands, and high expectations.
Please, allow him to take it one day at a time. One conversation at a time, one closed page at a time, one new association at a time, one thought, one healing, one building of social ties, one repair at a time.
We wish him well. May the LORD continue to bless his life and achievements.
We thank him very very much.
Long live UEW.
Long live our great university.
Dr Beth Offei-Awuku
