Confession Of NPP’s N/R Chair Of Receiving COVID-19 Cash For Party Work Vindicative But Scandalous-Minority Declares-CHECK.


The Minority in Parliament says it feels vindicated but mostly scandalised by emerging details that the current administration misused Covid-19 funds.
The Minority Leader addressing a press conference today, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, stated that the alleged audiotape of Vice-Chair for the NPP in the Northern Region, Madam Felicia Tettey, that she received Ghc100,000 of Covid-19 funds for party activities.
Reacting to the widespread claims against her, Madam Felicia Tettey dared to square up with elements within the party wrongly accusing her of blowing the supposed polling station executives’ cash.
Per the content of the tape, she disclosed that the money was part of the Covid funds allotted to the ruling party officials in the constituency and the region.
The leader said the contents in the audio make their call for an eminent investigation of the highly anomalous Covid-19 expenditure valid.
He said parliament of the Auditor-General could probe the matter.
He averred that ”If President Akufo-Addo has any respect for the tenet and values for accountability and transparency, to authorise a public probe enquiry into how the over 19 billion Covid-19 monies were disbursed and utilised.
According to him, they feel vindicated that their motion for a probe into the Covid-19 spending was dismissed by ”actors of the New Patriotic Party administration”.
”As much as we feel vindicated, we are further scandalized and call on President Akufo-Addo and remind him that the 1992 constitution is premised on probity and accountability. And if he has any respect for the values of integrity, let him prove Covid spending across the country. But we are to believe and conclude for now that the Felicia evidence is good evidence.”
He recounted how former President John Dramani Mahama disclosed in the United States of America an event that Covid-19 funds were used to execute the 2020 elections by the NPP, which he added has been affirmed by the NPP female executive.
It was his assertion that President Akufo-Addo is presiding over what he described as a gargantuan fraud of Covid-19 spending.
”We will renew our position. We will refile our motion for a probe,” he said.
