Deputy Majority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has argued that Ghana need to pass the E-levy because of emergencies like Evacuating Ghanaians from Ukraine.
He made this argument in parliament today when the Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu called for urgent evacuation of Ghanaian students in Ukraine.
Whiles Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin supports the call by the Minority leader, he argued that because of such unplanned spending like evacuating Ghanaians in countries hit by chaos, the E-levy needs to be passed.
He said evacuation exercises comes at a cost and no European nation will evacuate Ghanaians for free and that it’s the country’s limited resources that will be used to evacuate the citizens so everyone must support revenue mobilization plan by the government and E-Levy is one of such revenue mobilization plan.
