
The government of Ghana on Saturday started distributing Personal
Protective Equipments (PPEs) to 234 tertiary institutions in the 16
regions ahead of re-opening on Monday, June 15.
President Akufo-Addo during his last address to the nation eased
restrictions to enable final year students to report to campus on
Monday,June 15, to prepare for their exit examination.
Items distributed include; 200,000 milliltres of alcohol-based hand
sanitizer, 1,700 Veronica Buckets, 34,000 packets of soap and 34,000
tissue papers.
About 200,000 staff and students are supposed to benefit from the
logistics, comprising 44,000 teaching and non-teaching staff and 128,000
students.
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah briefing the media at Burma
Camp in Accra on Saturday before the items were airlifted said, in
order to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, each person is entitle to
three re-useable face masks, alcohol-based hand sanitizer and tissue
papers.
The distribution of the items is being undertaken by a special task
force from the Presidency, under the supervision of the Senior Minister,
Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo.
