The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has disconnected the Prophetic Hill Chapel, led by Prophet Nigel Gaisie, over an alleged illegal water reconnection and an outstanding debt of GH¢6,913.

Officials from the company’s Accra East Regional Office, supported by police, carried out the disconnection on Wednesday, October 9, after discovering that the church had restored its water supply without authorization and removed the original meter.

Accra East Communications Manager, Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, described the act as a serious offence, adding that the prophet has been invited to settle the debt and resolve the matter.

News teams were reportedly prevented from filming the exercise, while Prophet Gaisie declined to comment.

The GWCL has intensified a nationwide campaign against illegal connections and unpaid bills, which it says cost the company millions of cedis each year.
