Sarkodie To Feature Any Artiste Dropping An Azonto Tune For Free.

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has decided to freely feature any artist who intends to release an azonto track this season.

The Sarkcess Music Label boss who was one of the pioneers of the
‘Azonto music’ has suddenly expressed his interest in revamping that
particular music genre.

Championing the agenda, Sarkodie quickly
called upon his fellow rapper EL, another originator of the azonto
music to also offer his support, since they somewhat started the “azonto
business” together.

“To all artistes if you dropping Azonto any
moment from now, free verse from me. Yo El agenda dey. We de
#BringBackAzonto nti #Fahookime sharp … let’s go!!!,” he wrote on
Twitter.

However, most Ghanaians believe Azonto was originated
by the producer NshonnaMusick with the song “You Go Kill Me” which had
Sarkodie and E.L on it.

Others say it was a dance that originated from a traditional dance
called Kpanlogo, associated with the coastal towns in the country such
as Chorkor, James Town, La, Teshie, Nungua, and Tema, in the Greater
Accra Region.

The Azonto songs along with its dance at a point
became heavily popularized on social media by the music videos that
portrayed the dance form with fast-pace tempos, home-made dance
instructional videos uploaded on YouTube with no commercial intent, and
group choreographers done by mostly Ghanaians and other African
nationals living in UK, Germany, and the U.S.
