The Municipal Chief Executive of Effutu Municipality, Hon. J.B
Ninson has disclosed that so. Even persons who have been traced after
coming in contact with a COVID-19 patients are currently staying in his
official residence. Making this revelation to Nyce FM’s Oti Faaben Kakra
on ‘Asem Yi Di Ka’ the honourable MCE said that his house became an
option after staff of Winneba Senior High School agitated against the
use of the school’s facility as a quarantine center.

to the MCE, his residence is only for temporal holding as the assembly
work around the clock to secure a place for their holding. 

In his narration, he said that these four (4) persons are all
fisherfolks in Winneba who harbored a group of fishermen from Tema upon
their arrival at the shores of Winneba. It was later confirmed that a
member of the group has tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus hence
the commence of vigorous contact tracing.

” We were informed
that there fishermen have left the shores of Winneba to embark on a
fishing expedition in Ningo Prampram. We have therefore written to the
Accra Metropolitan Assembly to assist track these people and quarantine
them. Hon. Ninson said.

Additionally, the district assembly is
working tiredlessly to ensure strict compliance of all the safety
precautions outlined by WHO and GHS by its dwellers. As part of that,
handing washing kits and other PPEs have been distributed to various
fraternities in the municipality.

On the issue of social
distancing, he stated that all public places in the municipality i.e
markets, lorry stations among others have been given directions as to
how to observe it and with the support of the security services,
enforcing it to the core. ”The only challenge we are facing now, is how
to ensure social distancing at the beach, but then we are still trying
our best” he added.

The Municipal Assembly is very optimistic
that all steps taken and strategies employed will yield positive
outcomes thus minimize the risk of a possible community spread.
