The NPP Member of Parliament, Honourable Appiah Kubi has clearly disagreed with the decision to declassify some 241 acres of Achimota Forest Enclave and hand over to the Owoo Family.
According to the MP, a request for compensation should be differentiated from a request for land . He expressed his worry about the fact that ,if this is a precedent , then all families would make these complaints to be given some acres of forest lands. He advised that the declassification of the Achimota Forest Enclave should not have been the solution and the executive instrument should be respectfully reversed .
He made this utterance when TV3 asked for his opinion on the recent decision that has been taken without passing through various public consultations.
Many experts have expressed worry about how an executive instrument can be passed to exert considerable disadvantage on the ecological status of the Achimota Forest Enclave. Many believe the order by the first gentleman of the land is not in favour of the good people of the land .
