The Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has thrown his weight behind government’s flagship policies, including the 24-hour Economy and the Big Push Infrastructure Programme.
Speaking at the Young Commons Forum held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Afenyo-Markin pledged his commitment to supporting the successful implementation of these initiatives, which he said hold immense potential for transforming Ghana’s economy.
According to him, the policies, if effectively rolled out, will open up countless job opportunities for the youth, thereby addressing the rising concerns of unemployment in the country.
Observers note that if the opposition could move beyond constant backlashes against the incumbent government and instead channel their energies into constructive contributions that strengthen governance, Ghana could experience faster and more sustainable development.
Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the country’s progress rests not only on government policies but also on collective responsibility and the willingness of all political actors to put national interest above partisan gains.
The 24-hour Economy and Big Push programmes remain central to the government’s development agenda, promising industrial growth, job creation, and infrastructural expansion across all regions.
