The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has cautioned job seekers to be on alert after uncovering a new wave of online scams falsely advertising recruitment opportunities into the Service.

The Director-General of GNFS, Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, described the reports as “pure deceit,” explaining that the Service has not opened any recruitment process.

In a conversation with Adom News, she revealed that several individuals have already fallen victim to the fraudulent scheme, with investigations leading to the arrest of some suspects who are expected to face court soon.

“These fraudsters are preying on the desperation of the unemployed,” she lamented. “The Service has not announced any recruitment. Anyone demanding money in the name of the Fire Service is simply a criminal.”

According to her, the impostors mostly operate on Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp, using fake pages and even her name to lure unsuspecting applicants.

“I want to make it clear that I don’t have any personal social media accounts. The people using my pictures online are not me,” she warned.

The GNFS boss further urged the public to report any suspicious recruitment messages to the nearest police station, stressing that the Service only announces official openings through mainstream media and its verified communication channels.

Meanwhile, she advised Ghanaians to take fire safety more seriously, noting that most fire outbreaks across the country stem from human negligence.

Chief Fire Officer Ntow Sarpong reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property while intensifying public education on fire prevention.
