Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has congratulated the Black Stars on their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and pledged to facilitate visa access for Ghanaian fans who wish to travel to support the team abroad.

In a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh, Mr. Ablakwa commended the national team for their “emphatic qualification” and revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would leverage Ghana’s strong diplomatic relations with the World Cup host nations, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, to secure visa opportunities for supporters.

“Congratulations to the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification. Ghanaians can be fully assured that the Foreign Ministry under my leadership shall leverage our improved cordial diplomatic relations with the United States, Canada and Mexico to guarantee appreciable visa quotas for our globally acclaimed football fans,” he wrote. “GHANA, here we come.”

Ghana confirmed their qualification after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. The only goal of the match came in the 47th minute when Mohammed Kudus converted a precise pass from captain Thomas Partey, sending thousands of fans into jubilation.

The victory makes Ghana the fifth African nation to book a ticket to the 2026 World Cup, joining Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria. It also cements Ghana’s place as the first West African country to qualify for the tournament, signaling the Black Stars’ return to prominence on the global stage.
