The 2025 African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) General Assembly has been successfully held at the Marriot Hotel in Accra, bringing together key stakeholders from across the continent to deliberate on the future of Paralympic sports in Africa.
This year’s edition saw participation from 42 national Paralympic Committees and 20 international observers, making it one of the most inclusive and well-attended assemblies in recent years.
Among the dignitaries present were Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and the President of the Ghana Armwrestling Association, Charles Osei Asibey, among other notable personalities in Ghana’s sports fraternity.
In his address, African Paralympic Committee President Samson Deen underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in driving the continent’s sports development agenda.
“The purpose is to come together, strengthen our bonds, unite, and think positively about how we can develop our sport,” he said.
“So far, it has been a successful assembly, with 42 national Paralympic Committees and 20 international observers here to help shape the future of our region,” he added.
The Assembly also took time to honour members of the AfPCExecutive Board who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing the cause of Paralympic sports across Africa.
The event reaffirmed Ghana’s growing reputation as a hub for major international sporting gatherings, as the country continues to champion inclusivity and excellence in sports administration.
