The Adansi North District Assembly is set to embrace a new era of efficiency as it prepares to roll out a digital revenue collection system aimed at boosting local income generation and strengthening the district’s economy.
District Chief Executive Charles Kofi Ogbeh, popularly known as Sir Charles, disclosed the initiative after the assembly’s second general meeting at Fomena in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, the move marks a strategic shift toward transparency and accountability in how local taxes and levies are collected.
“Our district currently generates around GH¢1.12 million, which is commendable, but we have the capacity to do far more,” Mr. Ogbeh said. “The sensitisation process has already begun, and we’re ready to implement a system that will make revenue collection more efficient and transparent.”
The DCE revealed that the Assembly is working with a software development firm to create a user-friendly platform that assigns unique QR codes to every household. This will simplify the payment of property rates and other local taxes while curbing human interference in the process.
Mr. Ogbeh expressed optimism that the digital initiative will plug revenue leakages, boost public confidence, and ensure that funds are properly channelled into developmental projects such as road improvement, sanitation, and education.
“We’re determined to make Adansi North a model of effective local governance. When citizens see that their payments directly translate into development, compliance will naturally increase,” he added.
The digital rollout is expected to begin in the coming months, positioning Adansi North as one of the pioneering districts in Ghana adopting technology-driven revenue mobilisation for sustainable growth.
