Former Member of Parliament for Adentan, Kojo Adu-Asare, has called on the government to consider the MP for Asutifi North for an appointment, citing his humility, composure, and contribution to the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s electoral success.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Mr. Adu-Asare praised the young legislator’s demeanor and historic win, highlighting that it was the first time the NDC had captured the Asutifi North seat. He described the MP as “calm, respectful, and politically strategic,” adding that such individuals bring balance and maturity to governance.

“I’ve met him once, and I was impressed by his calmness and focus. The NDC has never won that seat before, and he’s the first to do so. Giving him a government appointment would not only strengthen the party’s visibility in that area but also serve as motivation for others,” Mr. Adu-Asare stated.

Addressing reports that linked the MP to an alleged attack on the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Squad (NAIMOS), the former Adentan MP said he empathized with him but emphasized that due process must take its course.
“If investigations find him culpable, then I cannot defend him. But perhaps if he had a government appointment, the incident might not have happened,” he remarked.

Mr. Adu-Asare also cautioned NDC members to distance themselves from activities related to illegal mining (galamsey), stressing that integrity must guide all political actions. He said that while the party seeks to maintain its image of accountability and discipline, it must also recognize and empower hardworking members whose contributions have brought new energy and victory to the NDC.

He concluded by urging the government to build on the momentum from constituencies like Asutifi North, where loyalty, strategic campaigning, and community trust delivered results in the last election. According to him, recognizing such achievements through appointments would send a strong message of appreciation and inclusion within the party’s ranks.
