Goaso in the Ahafo Region has received a state-of-the-art Public Employment Centre (PEC), a significant step toward addressing youth unemployment in the area.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from the Goaso Traditional Council, the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, GIZ, and the Labour Office.
Andreas Berding, Head of the Ghanaian-European Centre (GEC) for Jobs, Migration and Development, highlighted youth unemployment as a pressing issue in the region. He explained that the new centre is the product of collaboration between the European Union, German Development Cooperation, and the Government of Ghana to provide young people with better access to employment guidance and opportunities.
Under the Jobs, Migration and Development programme, five regions are set to benefit, with three PECs already rebuilt and 11 more renovated.
Acting Chief Labour Officer, Dawuda Ibrahim Braimah, urged staff to maximize the centre’s resources to support job seekers and encouraged the youth to take advantage of the services available, emphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening efforts against unemployment.
