Ghana’s First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, and the MP for Asutifi South, Collins Dauda, have been sworn in as members of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the PAP headquarters in Midrand, South Africa, during the opening of the continental legislature’s new session.
Their induction strengthens Ghana’s representation in the Pan-African legislative body, which serves as a platform for promoting democracy, good governance, human rights, and economic integration among African Union (AU) member states.
Hon. Ahiafor and Hon. Dauda will join other African lawmakers to deliberate on issues of peace, security, trade, and sustainable development in line with the AU’s Agenda 2063. “The Africa We Want.”
Established under Article 17 of the AU Constitutive Act, the Pan-African Parliament provides a forum for African parliamentarians to shape policies that advance continental unity and progress.
Their inclusion underscores Ghana’s ongoing commitment to Pan-Africanism and its contribution to strengthening regional cooperation through legislative diplomacy.
