Aluta FM 92.1 has formally apologized to three Regional Ministers after a guest on the station made unverified allegations linking them to illegal mining activities during a live broadcast.

In a letter dated November 19, 2025, and addressed to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Frank Amoakoehene; the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosu Adjei Awatley; and the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Nelson, the station distanced itself from the claims made by Mr. Wendell Yeboah during an interview aired on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The same remarks resurfaced the following morning during the station’s “Anopa Koko” program hosted by Agyaba Kwaku.

The management, represented by Mr. Simon Kofi Adu, acknowledged that the allegations, which suggested the ministers were involved in illicit mining (galamsey) operations, were broadcast without proper verification, contrary to journalistic standards.

After conducting a review of the incident, Aluta FM admitted that the comments were inappropriate and “should not have been aired without proper verification or clarification.” The letter emphasized that the statements made by the guest do not reflect the views or editorial position of the station.

“We sincerely apologize to each of you, your respective offices, and all persons whose reputations may have been affected,” the station stated, adding that it recognizes the seriousness of such claims, especially given the ministers’ roles in the national campaign against illegal mining.

As part of corrective measures, management announced steps to tighten internal editorial procedures and provide clearer guidance to presenters and producers when handling sensitive content.

In the letter, Aluta FM described the ministers as public servants committed to transparency, integrity, and national development. “We hope this apology will be accepted in good faith as we work to uphold responsible broadcasting and maintain a respectful relationship with your offices and the public,” the statement concluded.

The widely circulated apology comes amid heightened national scrutiny on illegal mining activities and the media’s role in shaping public discourse around governance and accountability.
