Founder and Leader of the House of Ezra, Apostle J.S.W. Kofi Amponsah, has pledged to name a portion of his church after President John Dramani Mahama if the President succeeds in completing the Kumasi–Accra expressway before leaving office.
Speaking on Ezra TV, Apostle Amponsah said his promise is driven by the long-standing dangers associated with the Accra–Kumasi road and the numerous lives lost over the years.
“I have witnessed a lot of tragedies on the Accra–Kumasi road. From 2009 to 2019 alone, about 300,000 people died on that road,” he claimed.
The clergyman described the expressway as a critical national project, stressing that its completion would significantly reduce accidents and save lives. He said his pledge was a firm and personal commitment tied to the successful delivery of the project.
“If President Mahama is able to complete the expressway before he leaves power, then the church I am building will have a portion named after him,” he stated.
Apostle Amponsah explained that the honour would not be symbolic but permanent, noting that a substantial section of the church auditorium would bear the President’s name.
“I firmly promise that I will name about 1,000 seats in the church after him,” he said.
He further emphasised the seriousness of his vow, stating that he would take legal steps to ensure the promise is honoured even after his death.
“I will even write a will to ensure that, even if I am no longer alive, that particular portion of the church remains named after him,” Apostle Amponsah added.
He concluded by reiterating his deep understanding of the challenges on the Accra–Kumasi road and his belief that the expressway would be a transformative project for national safety and development.
