The Nsuaem Kyekyewere Circuit Court has sentenced Frank Owusu, popularly known as “Lifer,” to 30 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for armed robbery.
Owusu was also handed a two-month sentence for unlawful possession of a firearm, with both terms to run concurrently.
According to police, the convict attacked a woman at Assin Praso on March 29, 2025, robbing her of GH₵1,950 and other belongings at gunpoint. He fled the scene, abandoning a locally manufactured pistol, but was later identified by the victim and placed on the wanted list.
After months of surveillance, police arrested Owusu on September 27, 2025, at his hideout in Assin Nyankomase. He was arraigned on October 1 and pleaded guilty to the charges.
Owusu has since been transferred to Ankaful Prisons to serve his sentence.
ASP George Okrah, Head of Public Affairs for the Central North Regional Police Command, assured the public that police remain resolute in pursuing armed robbery cases and ensuring offenders face justice.
