The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has embarked on a strategic media engagement tour designed to deepen collaboration and revitalize its membership across the region.

The regional executives, led by Chairman Kofi Adu Domfeh and Secretary Beatrice Spio-Garbrah, began the outreach on Monday with visits to key media establishments including EIB Network, Pure FM, Akoma 87.9 FM, and Despite Media Group in Kumasi.

The visits formed part of the Association’s renewed effort to foster professional unity and open dialogue with editors, managers, and senior broadcasters.

During the engagements, media leaders such as Kojo Marfo (EIB Network), Kwame Luther King Adinkrah (Pure FM), Ransford Asare (Akoma FM), and Sampson K. Nyamekye (Despite Media) commended the GJA for its outreach initiative, describing it as timely and forward-looking.

They urged the Association to step up training and capacity-building programmes, particularly in areas of digital journalism, ethics, and safety, while also championing welfare improvements for practitioners.

Chairman Kofi Adu Domfeh said the regional tour reflects the GJA’s commitment to reconnecting with journalists at the grassroots and promoting high professional standards.

“This exercise is not just about engagement, it’s about rebuilding a stronger network of journalists who share values of integrity, responsibility, and excellence,” he said.

He added that the Association aims to create an enabling environment where journalists can thrive, collaborate, and produce journalism that supports both regional and national development.

The tour, which will continue in the coming weeks, will extend to other media houses and institutions across the Ashanti Region, as the GJA seeks to reinvigorate its presence and strengthen partnerships within the media ecosystem.
