The Asunafo North Municipal Assembly has introduced stricter measures to prevent the misuse of government-provided support items for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). Municipal Chief Executive Joseph Akparibo said the assembly has set up a monitoring system to track beneficiaries and ensure items are used as intended.

During a presentation in Goaso, 61 PWDs received items including deep freezers, industrial sewing machines, fufu pounding machines, block moulding machines, wheelchairs, knapsack sprayers, and cash. Mr. Akparibo said the Social Welfare Department has recorded the house numbers and communities of all recipients to facilitate follow-up visits and evaluations.

He warned that under his administration, selling or misusing items meant to improve livelihoods will no longer be tolerated. Social Welfare officials have been instructed to carry out unannounced checks to ensure compliance. Beneficiaries interviewed expressed gratitude, noting that the items will enhance their dignity and provide meaningful support for their businesses and daily lives.
