Ghanaian filmmaker and skit sensation Ben South has disclosed that he spent about GH¢60,000 on the production of his upcoming movie titled 24, set to premiere later this year.
In an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Ben South revealed that the film marks his second major production after earning widespread recognition through his viral comedy skits and short films on social media.
“Some of the actors took GH¢2,000, some took GH¢3,000. The entire budget for the production is around GH¢60,000, that’s about $5,000,” he shared, highlighting the personal investment and dedication behind the project.
Explaining the inspiration behind the title, the young filmmaker said he wanted to create mystery and curiosity rather than revealing the plot upfront.
“I chose the title ‘24’ so people couldn’t easily predict the storyline. I wanted something that would keep audiences guessing,” he said.
The film features popular Ghanaian actors Maame Serwaa, AJ Brown, and Quecy Official, who have all made notable appearances in local short films and web series.
Ben South, whose previous work Wrong Target received praise for its direction, storytelling, and cinematography, hinted that 24 will delve deep into human emotions, moral dilemmas, and life-changing decisions, all unfolding within a single 24-hour period.
Fans and film enthusiasts are already buzzing with anticipation as Ben South continues to prove that Ghana’s digital creators are ready to compete on mainstream film platforms.
With 24, he aims to redefine independent filmmaking in Ghana and inspire young creatives to pursue storytelling with passion, discipline, and innovation.
