Police in the Bono Region have arrested a 43-year-old man, Yaw Owusu, popularly known as “Angolo,” for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death during a violent altercation at Awerempe, a community in the Berekum West Municipality.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the confrontation between Yaw Owusu and his 25-year-old brother, Bright Abotsi, started as a verbal exchange but quickly turned physical. In the heat of the moment, Owusu is said to have pulled a knife and stabbed Bright in the chest.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum, where medical officers pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police sources indicate that the suspect attempted to flee after the incident but was apprehended shortly afterward. He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital morgue for autopsy. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine what triggered the deadly confrontation.
