Mfantsipim School has cemented its legacy as one of Ghana’s greatest academic powerhouses after defending its National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) crown to claim the 2025 championship, marking a historic back-to-back victory and the school’s fourth national title.

The grand finale, held at the University of Cape Coast’s NEC Auditorium, saw the “Botwe Boys” outwit fierce rivals St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO) and Opoku Ware School (OWASS) in what many described as the “battle of the giants.”

The contest opened with fierce competition, as Mfantsipim led the first round with 20 points, trailed closely by AUGUSCO and OWASS with 17 each. AUGUSCO briefly took the lead in the second round, but Mfantsipim’s precision in the Problem of the Day propelled them ahead once again.

By the fourth round, the defending champions had surged to 46 points, maintaining their dominance through to the end. As the final bell sounded, Mfantsipim sealed the win with 56 points, while AUGUSCO and OWASS finished with 42 and 29 points respectively.

The NEC Auditorium erupted in cheers as Mfantsipim’s supporters, draped in red and white, celebrated their heroes’ remarkable achievement. The victory not only marked another triumphant chapter in the school’s storied NSMQ journey but also reaffirmed its unmatched academic excellence and competitive spirit.
