A heated family dispute in Awerempe, Berekum West Municipality, turned deadly on Friday, November 7, 2025, when 43-year-old Yaw Owusu allegedly stabbed his younger brother, Bright Abotsi, to death.
Police say the argument escalated around 10:30 a.m., culminating in the fatal stabbing. Abotsi was rushed to Holy Family Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities report that Owusu attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended by officers. The deceased’s body, showing a severe chest wound, has been taken to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest, assuring the public that investigations are ongoing and justice will be served.
