Residents of Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region were left in disbelief after police arrested a self-styled pastor, Major Wisdom Nutsugah, for allegedly leading six young men through a disturbing ritual at his residence.
According to police sources, the suspect reportedly invited the men, beneficiaries of motorbikes he had earlier gifted, to what he described as a spiritual meeting. However, upon their arrival, the meeting turned sinister. The victims alleged that the pastor, assisted by three of his junior pastors, ordered them to strip naked and take part in what appeared to be an occult ceremony.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the victims were made to consume a mysterious substance and chew toffees taken from a pot that contained blood. The pastor is also said to have threatened them with harm should they disobey.
The chilling ordeal came to light when one of the victims managed to flee and report the incident to the Buduburam Police, prompting a swift operation that led to Major Nutsugah’s arrest. He is currently being held at the Kasoa Divisional Police Command as investigations continue.
In an interview with Adom News, the Assemblyman for the Buduburam Electoral Area, Emmanuel Dogbe, described the incident as “disturbing and unacceptable,” calling on the police to conduct a thorough probe to ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, community members have expressed mixed reactions, some shocked, others fearful, over how easily spiritual authority is being abused in the name of religion.
