Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Offinso South, Vincent Asare Bediako, says the party has the potential to remain in government for more than 12 years if it strengthens its internal organisation and maintains public trust.

Speaking on the party’s future prospects, Mr. Bediako stressed that discipline and proper structures are key to sustaining political power.

“If we organise effectively, we can secure more than 12 years in power,” he stated.

He also took a firm stance against vote buying, revealing that he opposed the practice during his own parliamentary contest.

“I was against vote buying when I was contesting in my constituency, so I will not defend that behaviour anywhere,” he said.

According to him, failure to address such conduct could push the party back into opposition.

“If we do not take care, we will go into opposition because of this,” he cautioned.

Mr. Bediako urged party members to safeguard the confidence reposed in them by Ghanaians and avoid practices that could erode public trust.

“We need not allow this to happen again if we want to keep the trust of Ghanaians,” he noted.

He warned that persistent allegations of vote buying could provoke voter backlash.

“If this is not stopped, Ghanaians will get angry and vote against us,” he said.

Mr. Bediako also commended President John Dramani Mahama for his reaction to allegations involving Baba Jamal, describing it as a positive sign of leadership.

“I am happy with how President John Dramani Mahama reacted to the situation. If this continues, Ghana will be a better place,” he added.
