Police in the Central East Region have rounded up 33 suspects in a coordinated sweep aimed at curbing crime before the Christmas rush. The intelligence-led operations unfolded over two days and focused on known hotspots across multiple communities.

The dawn swoops, carried out on December 16 and 17, 2025, covered Kasoa Old Market, Awutu Breku, Gomoa Buduata, Senya Breku, and nearby areas. Officers moved simultaneously through these locations to disrupt suspected criminal activity and increase visibility ahead of the festive period.

During the exercise, police seized quantities of substances believed to be Indian hemp, several packs of Tramadol, and a toy firearm. In addition, 45 motorbikes were impounded as verification and documentation checks continue.

All 33 suspects are being screened while investigators build cases where necessary. Those found responsible for offences will be put before court as the inquiry proceeds.

The Command urged the public to take basic precautions during the holidays: avoid carrying large sums of cash, move in groups at night, wear crash helmets when riding, do not drink and drive, and steer clear of isolated routes when alone.

Police leadership thanked traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents for their cooperation, and commended officers for their professionalism. The Command reiterated its commitment to a safe festive season and cautioned that anyone who breaks the law will be arrested and prosecuted.
