Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs) across the Central Region converged in the Effutu Municipal Capital, Winneba, on Thursday, October 30, 2025 for their annual meeting aimed at enhancing coordination, experience sharing, and effective administration among local government authorities.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of Coordinating Directors and Metropolitan Coordinating Director for the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Asumah Adam Braimah, underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange among Coordinating Directors. He emphasized that leveraging each other’s experiences was crucial to ensuring efficient coordination and sustainable development across the region.

Mr. Braimah further urged MMDCDs to attach great importance to such gatherings, noting that the benefits derived from regular engagement could significantly improve service delivery and governance outcomes at the local level.

Delivering the welcome address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, commended the participants for their commitment to advancing the development agenda of the region. He shared practical insights on fostering inter-municipal collaboration and called on Coordinating Directors to align with the Government’s “Reset Agenda,” which seeks to accelerate national development through renewed dedication and efficiency in public service.

On his part, the Central Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwateng, highlighted the need for adherence to sound governance principles and best administrative practices. He emphasized that robust planning must precede all activities of the assemblies, particularly in areas such as project implementation and budget formulation.

The meeting also discussed a range of issues affecting local governance, including welfare concerns and challenges confronting the various assemblies.

Overall, the conference provided a vital platform for sharing experiences, recognizing leadership efforts, and charting a collective path toward improved coordination and development across the Central Region’s Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
