Panic and chaos erupted at Teacher Mante in the Eastern Region on Thursday, November 6, 2025, after a fuel tanker overturned, spilling large quantities of petroleum products and drawing scores of residents to the scene.

Eyewitnesses say the tanker lost control and toppled onto its side, triggering a dangerous scramble as residents rushed with buckets, bowls, and gallons to siphon the leaking fuel, despite the life-threatening risk of an explosion.

According to reports by Citi News, the situation quickly became chaotic as more people joined in, ignoring safety warnings. Concerned locals have since appealed to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the police to secure the area to prevent a potential disaster.

So far, no casualties have been reported, but emergency officials have been urged to act swiftly to avert a repeat of previous fuel-related tragedies in Ghana.
