The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has donated GHS 500,000 in seed capital to empower registered women entrepreneurs under the newly-launched Madina Chamber of Commerce.
The donation, made at the official launch of the Chamber in Madina, forms part of government’s broader commitment to support small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), particularly women-owned businesses.
According to Mr. Debrah, the initiative is intended to provide a financial boost for women entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the local economy.
He commended the leadership of the Madina Chamber of Commerce for establishing a platform to bring together business owners in the area, stressing that the Chamber would serve as a vital link between entrepreneurs and government support systems.
“This seed capital is not just money; it is an investment in the industrious women of Madina who are already demonstrating resilience and creativity in their businesses. Our hope is that this support will open up new opportunities and strengthen livelihoods,” he said.
Leaders of the Madina Chamber of Commerce expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff for the gesture, pledging to ensure transparent and accountable disbursement of the funds to benefit women entrepreneurs.
They further assured members that the Chamber would roll out training and mentorship programmes to complement the financial support, helping women entrepreneurs to sustain and grow their enterprises.
The launch event drew stakeholders from the business community, government officials, and traditional leaders, who all underscored the importance of women’s participation in Ghana’s economic transformation.
