An Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded nine persons into prison custody over their alleged involvement in the assault of police officers at the Tweapease Senior High School Park in the Ashanti Region.

The accused persons were brought before the court on Thursday, January 8, 2026, after a video capturing the incident circulated widely on social media, sparking public concern.

Those remanded are Joshua Frimpong, also known as Joey B; Bannor Williams; Isaac Dwumfour, popularly called Sporty; Evans Bannor, also known as Pressure King; Asiedu Ronald, known as Case Close; Sarfo Alex, referred to as Okele; Yaw Alex; Obidiaba Desmond; and Agyemang Emmanuel.

They have been charged with assault on public officers. According to prosecutors, the suspects, acting together with other individuals yet to be identified, allegedly confronted and attacked police officers who were on duty at the location.

The court ordered that the accused persons be held in custody while investigations continue. Police have since intensified efforts to identify and arrest additional suspects connected to the incident.

The Ghana Police Service has condemned the attack, warning that acts of violence against law enforcement officers undermine public order and will be dealt with decisively. Authorities have assured the public that all persons involved will be made to face the full rigours of the law.
