The Manhyia Palace has levied a traditional fine against Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, the family head of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, following the invocation of the Great Oath (Ntam Kɛseɛ) by the musician’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Bimpomaa.

The oath was invoked after a court session involving Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, who is contesting the legal recognition of the late musician’s marriage. The sacred Asante declaration immediately suspended the civil proceedings, transferring authority over the matter to the palace.

During a traditional sitting on November 7, 2025, the Saamanhene and other chiefs ruled that the family head had failed to act to counter the invocation, resulting in a fine of two sheep. The animals are to be used in purification rites at the palace to neutralize any spiritual consequences.

While the Manhyia Palace has taken over the customary aspects of the case, the civil court proceedings are set to resume on November 12, 2025, continuing the legal process alongside traditional protocols.
