The Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has assured members of the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Teachers that government is taking steps to resolve their concerns over salary arrears.
Speaking during an engagement with the group, the Deputy Minister empathized with the teachers, recounting his own experience as a young teacher when he went without pay for eight months. “I understand your frustrations. I have been in your shoes before, and I know the sacrifices you are making in the classrooms despite the challenges,” he said.
He explained that the Ministry of Finance, under the leadership of Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is putting in place the necessary arrangements to ensure that the outstanding payments are addressed. According to him, their grievances have been duly acknowledged and will be captured in the next national budget to be presented by the Finance Minister.
“The next budget will feature your concerns, and we are committed to ensuring that you receive what is rightfully yours. You are not forgotten, and your dedication to teaching will be rewarded,” Hon. Ampem assured.
The Deputy Minister further commended the teachers for their patience and urged them to continue their work with commitment while the government finalizes the processes to clear the arrears.
The Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Teachers, which has been pressing for months for payment of salaries, welcomed the assurance but stressed that they will continue to monitor developments closely to ensure government delivers on its promise.
