A major division has erupted within the camp of former Member of Parliament for Tema West, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, following reports that she has allegedly withdrawn her support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and is now aligning with another political camp.
According to sources close to her political circle, the move has sparked tensions and heated exchanges among her core supporters, with some insisting she remains loyal to the Bawumia campaign, while others claim she has been courted by figures from a rival front ahead of the 2025 elections.
Though Naa Torshie has yet to issue an official statement, several political watchers say her recent public silence and absence from key Bawumia campaign activities have fuelled the speculation.
Party insiders, however, caution that the reports may be exaggerated, stressing that internal lobbying and realignments are common within major political movements, especially in election seasons.
The development, if confirmed, could have implications for Bawumia’s grassroots machinery, particularly in the Greater Accra Region, where Naa Torshie has long commanded significant influence.
