Police in Bengaluru have arrested Dr. Mahendra Reddy for allegedly killing his wife, 28-year-old dermatologist Dr. Kritika Reddy, just months after their wedding.
Investigators say Mahendra injected propofol, a powerful anaesthetic, into his wife at their home under the guise of treatment, causing her death.
Kritika’s family accused Mahendra of having an extra-marital affair and administering unnecessary medicines to her.
“She was completely healthy,” said her sister, Dr. Nikhita Reddy. “He refused a postmortem and acted heartbroken, but we insisted, and that’s how the truth came out.”
Police confirmed they are probing possible motives, including infidelity and financial disputes.
“Preliminary evidence shows it was a deliberate act,” said DCP Parashuram. “We are reviewing call records and transactions.”
The family has since donated Kritika’s house to ISKCON in her memory.
Meanwhile, Victoria Hospital clarified that Mahendra resigned months before the incident.
