Health experts are warning the public about the dangers of popping pimples in a delicate area of the face known as the “triangle of death.”
This triangle stretches from the bridge of the nose down to the corners of the mouth. Due to the way veins in this region connect directly to blood vessels leading to the brain, infections here can spread quickly and cause serious complications.
When a pimple is squeezed, bacteria can enter the bloodstream and travel to the base of the brain. In severe cases, this may lead to conditions such as meningitis, brain abscess, or cavernous sinus thrombosis, which can be life-threatening.
Although such infections are uncommon, they can progress rapidly and result in blindness, paralysis, or even death.
Health professionals advise against popping pimples and instead recommend safer skincare practices, such as regular cleansing, avoiding harsh products, and seeking treatment for persistent acne.
The reminder comes amid growing concern over self-treatment and beauty trends that encourage quick fixes without considering the potential health risks.
