President John Dramani Mahama has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Dr. Victor Attoh, describing him as one of Ghana’s finest and most dedicated gynecologists.

Speaking at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards in Kumasi, where broadcaster Nathaniel Attoh served as the lead Master of Ceremonies, President Mahama fondly recalled his personal relationship with the late medical doctor, who passed away more than two decades ago.

“His father was Dr. Attoh, one of the best gynecologists in Ghana,” President Mahama said. “He delivered my four sons, and I used to go with Lordina [my wife] to their house for antenatal consultations. This was a very little boy [Nathaniel Attoh] then, but he’s done very well.”

The President’s remarks drew warm applause from the audience, many of whom were visibly touched by the personal reflection. His tribute highlighted not only the professional excellence of the late Dr. Attoh but also the inspiring journey of his son, who has become one of Ghana’s most respected broadcast journalists and sports commentators.

Dr. Victor Attoh was widely admired in Ghana’s medical community for his skill and dedication to women’s health. Beyond his medical career, he also served as a Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, one of Ghana’s most celebrated football clubs.

The tribute added a deeply personal moment to the night’s celebration of journalistic excellence, linking generations of service, from medicine to media, in honour of national impact and legacy.
