Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has said that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to select him as running mate was met with resistance from some quarters, but he praised him for remaining resolute in his choice.
Speaking on Oyerepa Radio, Dr. Prempeh described the decision as a reflection of Dr. Bawumia’s strong leadership and long-term vision.
“The future is very bright, and it is even brighter under Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. I know that electing me as his running mate was not liked by many, and that is why some are against him,” he said.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is not easily swayed by public opinion, noting that he carefully weighs the merits and implications of his decisions.
“But he stood his ground and maintained his decision. Bawumia is not a weak person as some perceive; when he decides to do something, he considers the implications, the merits, and the demerits. And if he decides, he acts on it,” he explained.
He added that his selection as running mate reflects Dr. Bawumia’s grounded leadership and judgment.
“If not for the fact that he is a grounded person, I would not have been elected by him to be his running mate,” Dr. Prempeh concluded.
