Former Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Hon. Ben Abdula Banda, has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best candidate to unite the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after its upcoming presidential primaries.

Speaking in an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, Hon. Banda urged party members to rally together after the internal contest and support a candidate capable of providing strong leadership and cohesion within the party.

“Dr. Bawumia has a good vision for the party and the country. He is also very competent,” the former MP stated.

According to Hon. Banda, leadership selection in governance should be based on merit rather than identity considerations such as religion, tribe, or ethnicity.

“In governance, we should not use people’s religion, tribe, or ethnic background as the basis for voting. We must rather vote based on competence and also consider emotional intelligence,” he stressed.

He argued that Dr. Bawumia embodies these qualities and is therefore well-positioned to bring unity to the party following the primaries.

“Dr. Bawumia possesses all these traits needed to lead and unite the party,” Hon. Banda added.

The former legislator concluded by calling on NPP members to place the broader interest of the party and the country above internal divisions, emphasizing the need for unity ahead of future elections.
