Educationist Dr. Peter Partey-Anti has advocated for a results-based school selection model, proposing that students should choose their Senior High Schools (SHSs) only after knowing their examination results.
According to Dr. Partey-Anti, allowing candidates to make informed choices based on their actual performance would help reduce mismatched placements, reduce stress among students and parents, and improve fairness in the placement process.
He argued that the current system, where students select schools before writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), often leads to situations where some candidates are placed in schools below or above their academic level, creating dissatisfaction and placement challenges each year.
Dr. Partey-Anti’s call comes amid renewed discussions about the efficiency and transparency of Ghana’s school placement system.
