The Ebenezer Memorial Educational Centre (EMEC) on Friday, December 19, 2025 marked a major milestone with a grand celebration of its Silver Jubilee, commemorating 25 years of dedicated service to quality education and holistic child development in the Effutu Municipality.
The colourful ceremony brought together education stakeholders, traditional leaders, parents, alumni, and distinguished guests, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effutu, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, former Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Majeed Ayariga and the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Diana Anderson.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, who is himself a professional teacher, congratulated the management, staff, and alumni of EMEC for their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and character formation over the past two and a half decades.
“Twenty-five years of consistency is no small feat. EMEC has not only produced scholars but has shaped the character of future leaders who are contributing meaningfully to the growth of our municipality and the nation,” he stated.
The MCE underscored the importance of preserving cultural identity, urging the people of Effutu to take pride in speaking their local dialect and passing it on to younger generations. According to him, cultural grounding is essential for building confident and responsible citizens.
He further challenged the school’s management to consider establishing a vocational school to complement the existing academic programmes, noting that such an initiative would provide learners with diverse career pathways and practical skills relevant to today’s job market.
Reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to education, Hon. Rev. Mensah pledged continued financial support to ensure that no child is denied education due to economic hardship. He also encouraged the school to maintain and strengthen the high academic standards it has become known for.
A touching moment during the celebration came when Serene Kasim, a Class Two pupil, recited a poem titled “Dear Teachers.”Deeply moved by the performance, the MCE announced that he would personally sponsor the young learner, describing the poem as a reflection of his own passion and background in teaching.
Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Alhaji Kasim Zubairu, a former MCE for Effutu, announced a donation of GH₵20,000 from Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin to support EMEC’s ongoing and future developmental projects.
Alhaji Zubairu appealed to parents to be diligent in paying school fees to help sustain the institution’s operations and efficiency. He also called on the Municipal Assembly to provide the school with adequate teaching and learning materials to further enhance educational outcomes.
In her remarks, the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Diana Anderson, praised EMEC for its consistent performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and local quiz competitions. She emphasized that education in the modern era must extend beyond classroom instruction.
She encouraged the school to place greater emphasis on creativity, digital literacy, and moral education, stressing that learners must be equipped with 21st-century technological skills while being grounded in strong ethical values and discipline.
The Silver Jubilee celebration served not only as a moment of reflection on EMEC’s achievements over the past 25 years but also as a renewed call to action for stakeholders to support the institution’s vision of nurturing well-rounded, competent, and morally upright future leaders.
