Plans to establish a 24-hour market in the Effutu Municipality took a major step forward on Saturday when the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) led a team of consultants from WD Global Consult on a site inspection of the proposed project area in Winneba.
The inspection, led by Mr. Owusu Appiah of WD Global Consult, took place at the Winneba Junction Lorry Station area, where the team conducted a thorough assessment and recorded the coordinates of the proposed market site.
Speaking after the tour, the Effutu MCE, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah expressed confidence that the construction of the 24-hour market would significantly transform local commerce, enhance livelihoods, and contribute to the government’s broader agenda of stimulating economic growth through infrastructure development.
“This project, when completed, will not only boost business activities within the municipality but also position Winneba as a vibrant commercial hub within the Central Region,” the MCE stated. “It will go a long way to impact our local economy and drive Effutu’s development agenda in line with government’s vision.”
The consultants, on their part, commended the proactive leadership of the Municipal Assembly and pledged to deliver a comprehensive feasibility report to guide the next phase of implementation.
The proposed 24-hour market project forms part of a national initiative aimed at modernizing local markets, improving trading conditions, and creating sustainable economic opportunities across the country.
