In a meaningful step toward improving educational infrastructure in the municipality, the Effutu Municipal Assembly on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, presented 100 dual desks to Winneba Secondary School.
The brief but impactful ceremony, held on the school’s campus, brought renewed hope to both students and staff who have long grappled with inadequate seating in classrooms.
Rev. Atta Mensah, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, made the donation on behalf of the Assembly, emphasizing the government’s sustained commitment to enhancing teaching and learning conditions across the Municipality.
Addressing students and School Management members, he acknowledged the pressing challenges schools continue to face regarding classroom furniture and assured them that the Assembly is dedicated to finding lasting solutions.
“We are here in the name of the Municipal Assembly to present these desks to enhance effective teaching and the comfort of students,” Rev. Mensah said.

He further noted that the gesture marks only the beginning of a broader plan to resource schools in the area, urging stronger collaboration between the Assembly and educational institutions to ensure a conducive learning environment.
The Assistant Headmistress in charge of Domestic issues, Mrs. Louisa Suwodji of Winneba Secondary School, speaking on behalf of the Headmaster, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely intervention.
She highlighted the strain the lack of adequate desks had placed on teaching and learning, describing the donation as a great relief to the school community.
“We are extremely grateful for this donation,” she said. “These desks have brought joy and comfort to our students, and we remain hopeful that more support will follow.”
The donation has already sparked a sense of optimism within the school, where overcrowded classrooms and furniture shortages have been long-standing obstacles to effective learning. Teachers and students alike believe that the improved seating arrangement will significantly enhance concentration, participation, and overall classroom engagement.
As the ceremony concluded, Rev. Mensah encouraged students to make the most of the improved environment by working hard and striving for excellence.
His words echoed a broader vision shared by both the Assembly and the school’s administration; one where partnership and continuous investment drive better educational outcomes.
For Winneba Secondary School, the arrival of the desks is more than just a logistical improvement; it is a reaffirmation of community support and a promise of brighter days ahead.
