The Effutu Municipal Assembly has held a Town Hall Meeting in Winneba as part of efforts to strengthen participatory governance, transparency, and accountability within the municipality.

The forum brought together traditional authorities, religious leaders, security representatives, heads of departments, opinion leaders, and residents to review the Assembly’s financial performance, assess ongoing development projects, and outline future priorities.

The Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII, in his address, called for unity and collective responsibility among residents. He underscored the importance of fairness and proactive leadership, urging citizens to set aside differences and work together for the progress of Winneba.

He further encouraged the Assembly to consider investing in recreational facilities, including a children’s park, to promote tourism and create safe spaces for young people.

Delivering the keynote address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, commended the national government for progress in various sectors while acknowledging existing local challenges. He stressed the need for discipline and strong community relations to attract and retain investment.

He also appealed to the University of Education, Winneba to prioritize the employment of local youth and artisans to stimulate the municipality’s economy.

The Municipal Development Planning Officer, Mr. Abubakar Saddique Adam presented a comprehensive overview of completed and ongoing projects across key sectors:

  • Education: Construction of a six-unit classroom block at Don Bosco and distribution of dual desks to schools.
  • Water and Sanitation: Construction of boreholes with treatment systems, procurement of skip containers, and improvement works at the Sankor final disposal site.
  • Health: Renovation of the Woarabeba CHPS Compound.
  • Infrastructure: Construction of the Nananom Road, culverts at Konfoadae, and reshaping of major municipal roads.
  • Agriculture: Development of an irrigation dam at Ntakofem to support year-round farming.
  • Social Support: Distribution of toolkits to apprentices and assistance to Persons with Disabilities.
  • Institutional Development: Renovation of official residential facilities.

Key priorities outlined for the coming year include continued road improvements, expansion of drainage infrastructure, construction of modern markets to boost trade, and strengthened investment in inclusive education, healthcare, and sanitation.

A Municipal Budget Analyst with the Budget Unit of the Assembly, Mr. Daniel Twum Barima also presented the Assembly’s annual budget, detailing financial allocations and projections to support planned initiatives.

The meeting concluded with an open forum, allowing residents to raise concerns and seek clarification on development matters. In his closing remarks, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive planning and continuous improvement.

He thanked participants for their engagement and reiterated the Assembly’s resolve to deepen transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across the Effutu Municipality.
