The Effutu Municipal Assembly has emerged as the best-performing local authority in the Central Region in the second-half assessment of the 2025 National Sanitation Day (NSD) activities.
Out of the 22 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) assessed across the region, Effutu Municipal Assembly recorded the highest overall score of 86.8 per cent. Upper Denkyira East followed in second place, while Ajumako Enyan Essiam ranked at the bottom of the assessment.
Performance records from July to December 2025 show consistent improvement by the Assembly. Effutu scored 83 per cent in July, 85 per cent in August, 90 per cent in September, 95 per cent in October, dropped to 73 per cent in November, and rebounded strongly with 95 per cent in December.
Speaking to the Media, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Rev. Atta Mensah, pledged to sustain the momentum and work diligently to maintain Effutu’s top position. He said the Assembly is committed to making Effutu not only the cleanest municipality in the Central Region, but also one of the cleanest in Ghana.
Rev. Mensah commended residents of the municipality for their active participation in the monthly National Sanitation Day exercises, noting that their consistent turnout has been key to the municipality’s success.
He also praised the Environmental Health Officers and other sanitation staff of the Effutu Municipal Assembly for their dedication and hard work, describing the achievement as a collective effort.
According to the MCE, the Assembly will continue to intensify sanitation measures to prevent cholera outbreaks and other sanitation-related diseases, as part of broader efforts to protect public health.
