The District Chief Executive for Bole, Abdulai Muhammad, has called on residents to stop dumping refuse indiscriminately and to take greater responsibility for keeping their communities clean.
His appeal came after the district joined the National Sanitation Day exercise on Saturday, November 1, 2025, as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s renewed national sanitation campaign.
Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Mr. Muhammad said the initiative was an essential part of government’s effort to prevent diseases caused by poor sanitation and careless waste disposal.
He disclosed that the Bole District Assembly has passed a set of sanitation by-laws, warning that offenders will face prosecution. According to him, the move is aimed at ensuring discipline and sustainability in waste management across the district.
“We cannot continue to live in filth and expect to stay healthy. Every household, every shop owner, every young person must take part in keeping Bole clean. Those who flout the law will be made to face the consequences,” the DCE cautioned.
He also praised residents, youth groups, and traders for coming out in their numbers to participate in the cleanup, describing their commitment as a reflection of community spirit and civic responsibility.
Some residents who joined the exercise lauded the government’s initiative and suggested that dedicating the first Saturday of every month to communal cleaning would help instill discipline and environmental awareness among citizens.
