A 51-year-old engineer, Leslie Nkansah Osei-Bonsu, has been nominated as the next Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong in the Ashanti Region.

He was outdoored by the Queenmother as successor to the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, and will ascend the Silver Stool after swearing the oath of allegiance to the Golden Stool at the Manhyia Palace.

Born into the Botase Bretuo Royal Family, Mr. Osei-Bonsu was selected from among 16 nominees presented by the five royal families of Mampong. He was introduced to the Kingmakers and the Traditional Council at the Amaniampong Stool Palace.

A senior software architect and geospatial strategist, he currently serves as Product and Service Group Manager at GAF AG in Germany. He holds degrees from KNUST, the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and a second master’s in Computational Science and Engineering.

Known traditionally as Barima Yaw Nkansa Dwamena, he will assume a new stool name after completing customary rites in Mampong. His nomination drew excitement and jubilation among residents following the Queenmother’s announcement.
